BSR Food Cluster Network around the Baltic Sea

BSR Food Cluster Network is a BSR Stars project that helps small and medium-sized food producing companies in their international activities and efforts. The network is built up with countries around the Baltic Sea (Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Poland).

Our dream for the future is a network of experts that help companies in their own country, but also colleagues in other Baltic Sea countries with their companies in need of advice for internationalization efforts.

BSR Food Cluster Network in practice

The main idea in the BSR Food Cluster Network is to have 3-5 players in every country who are willing to create a network of their own country. These key players are the core of all activities. Finnish key players are Foodwest Ltd (Seinäjoki), Functional Foods Forum (Turku) and Helsinki Business and Science Park/Viikki Food Centre (Helsinki).

Services for food companies in practice
- Help in finding suitable partners and know-how in target country
- Help in product development and available funding
- Activities: study trips, seminars, etc.

Practical operations towards companies bring the network close to the companies throughout the Baltic Sea Region. We see the Baltic Sea Region as food companies’ home market.

Network partners have a key role in helping companies in their home country to get information about other Baltic Sea countries and to find a suitable contact or service provider abroad. Internationalization is thus made easier for SMEs in particular. Export, cooperation, contract manufacturing, raw material purchasing, whatever the form of activities, the network can help!
