BSR Stars - Demola

Demola is an award-winning ecosystem for students, companies and universities

Demola is a collaborative open innovation platform where talented university students co-create new solutions to real-life problems with companies and other project partners. Demola provides an inspiring atmosphere of creative co-creation and new learning opportunities for students and professionals of different universities and organisations.

The Demola model has been developed in Tampere in the context of New Factory innovation centre. During the first three years of activity over 200 service and product prototypes were developed by 1000+ talents and 100+ project partner organisations. 85% of these results were claimed for business use. In addition to Tampere, the Demola Network is now operating in Vilnius, Budapest, Oulu and East Sweden.

For students, universities and active companies the Demola Network opens up international collaboration opportunities with future talents and active organisations across the network. With the Demola Network universities and regions have been able to improve their innovation and learning capabilities by aligning and mobilising the already existing resources and strengths with collaborative action and co-creation.

Currently there are several regions around the globe that have shown great interest to collaborate with the Demola Network. Our objective is to create a larger Demola ecosystem with special focus on the Baltic Sea Region. Based on the experiences of Demola, the network is an inspiring enabler for novel cross-border university-business collaboration to achieve targets of BSR Stars and Europe.
